Charity
Charity has always been close to our Managing Director Simon’s heart. He started as a youth worker when he was just 16 for North Yorkshire County Council before working for a youth centre in Stockton-on-Tees, become voluntary fund raising coordinator for Leeds Childrens Charity and more recently was awarded the accolade of Volunteer of The Year in Lancaster District for his efforts chairing the West End Million Project in Morecambe
978 Group is determined to not only give back to the communities it operates within but also to support worthy causes on an international level. They do this by arranging company charity events supporting local causes, and through a partnership with B1G1 allowing the company to give to a myriad of worthy global projects.
In Morecambe Simon and the Group have been a part of the restoration of The Winter Gardens theatre from floor sanding to sponsorship, have sponsored multiple works of art in the area, helped to organise and promote ‘The World’s Biggest Street Party’, have raised thousands of pounds for local charities such as More Music, Defying Dementia and Team Reece and have created a veritable landmark in the Sandylands Mural on one of the groups properties. The ambition is to continue to enhance the area and be a part of the regeneration of Morecambe for decades to come.
Business For Good
Donating on behalf of our clients to causes around the world via the B1G1 Platform…
Did you know that 978 Finance donates to global charitable causes on behalf of our clients? Each time you work with us, we send you a list of global causes and let you choose which one you would like us to donate to on your behalf? We donate to each cause chosen, nine hundred and seventy eight times, see what we did there?!
Here are just some of the causes our clients have chosen along with the impacts made.
Skydive for Charity
On Sunday 27th September 2020, the 978 Finance team took part in a skydive for their respective chosen charities. MD Simon chose More Music in Morecambe, a local charity that delivers community workshops in music and the arts whilst Ops Manager Nikki opted to jump for Team Reece to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Elisha from sister company Furness Bay chose to take the leap for Defying Dementia, which raises funds to facilitate research into Alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative brain disease.
The team absolutely smashed both the skydive and their targets. Altogether they raised £2,405 across their chosen charities which is an absolutely fantastic result for these great causes. Well done Simon, Nikki and Elisha and a big thank you to everyone that shared and donated, we couldn’t have done it without you!
